I am a PhD student working under supervision of Dr. Max L.Wilson and Prof. Tom Rodden in Mixed Reality Lab, University of Nottingham, UK. My research focus on the "Web Session".

Phd student (starting from Jan 2013) in Mixed Reality Lab, University of Nottingham, UK. Recent research in Web and Informational Retrieval are turning towards session-based retrieval rather than single log or query study. However, most of the session detection attempts just used simplistic rules (e.g. 30 mins inactivity creates a new session). In addition, comparably little work has involved the mental model about the "web session" from real users. The aim of my research is to 1) develop a detection model involving the factors cared by users in their web activities, 2) generate corresponding rules for all of the factors based on the practical data (e.g. logs in current stage), 3) build a chrome extension to practically implement this model to automatically detect intelligent web session. Currently, the "Chrome Extension" has been finished (but not published yet) and it can detect the session boundary and session switches automatically. Do you want to join the web session study?
